Engaging Your Audiences...
Magical Corporate Event Entertainment of Sarlot & Eyde

Dear Magic Friend,

IT'S A WHIRLWIND! It's only been a few hours since we arrived home from our show in Chicago, prior to that we spent a week at the largest Magic Convention in the nation and in a few days we leave once again. We're excited to catch up with old friends and make new ones across the country. If you haven't yet contacted us for complimentary tickets in your area for upcoming events, we still have a few left. (Click here to see schedule.)

SECRET #14: POSITIONING THE STAGE. In every Enewsletter, we provide tips on creating great events. This month's tip is "Positioning the Stage".

It sounds simple, "where do you put the stage" but your answer can lead to the success or disappointment of your event. For main entertainment (as opposed to background music) you want your guests to feel and experience the performance, so keep the stage close to the majority of your audience. In general, for rectangular banquet rooms, positioning the stage against of one of the long walls is ideal. But there are a few caveats....

The proximity of the chairs and tables to the stage sets the relationship between audience and performers. In our experience, the best distance is five to ten feet from the first chair to the riser or stage. Make sure guests close to the stage are not seated behind it. There's nothing worse than giving a VIP a prime seat only to realize their view is to the side or behind the performers! For rooms with just chairs, consider arching the seats like theater rows for intimacy and audience focus. Dance floors are great but, with main entertainment, don't make the common mistake of placing it in front of the stage and distancing your guests. Instead, move the dance floor to the side of the stage or create a special dance corner for those who like to shake things up.
